The Rise and Fall of the Brownies

I should have known by the look of the brownies while in the oven something had gone awry. Brownies don’t rise like a cake.  They were gloriously moist and dark chocolately  goodlooking. Looks can be deceiving. I cut a lovely brownie piece and ugh!!!! Salty baking soda!! Ruined!!!

Apparently, the recipe calls for a teaspoon and a half of baking soda. Not a TABLEspoon and a half. This is what happens when reading a recipe off the tiny screen of a phone and not printed out. I had made some lovely cream cheese icing and that was delish but not so much to overcompensate for saltiness. I broke down and bought some mixes.

I had a one year celebration party for my pure romance business. And it was a bust. The best thing about it was my bestie was the only one here and we had three glorious hours of us time. No kids. Slight texting interruptions from the males in our lives but that was funny. But just some needed tak time instead of quick stolen moments at the grocery store or while driving when children are napping. We used to have so much time just us. And now our lives are filled with our children and families. It’s amazing how lives shift.

As far as crafting goes, I’ve made some shells for minion hats for a friend’s grandchildren for christmas. Had some other side projects to do for decals. Other than that, I’ve been trying to get some sleep instead of manically late night crafting. I haven’t been waking up refreshed yet, I do suppose it will take more than a week. Who knows. I think I’m just not a morning person.

I can’t be the only one, can I? There’s other late night mad crafter, too??

Garden master!

These are two of my latest zucchinis!
I made some brownies with a little one not pictured. Recipe I used was Mom I’m Hungry zucchini brownies. They smell delish.  Can’t wait til they cool and taste!

While they were baking, they had amazing rise! Now they have fallen and it looks like my edges are burned but they aren’t. The whole pan feels quite springy.
This is what happened to a box mix of brownies I left in a smidge too long. Don’t mind my pile of dishes. Lol, I had just filled thesis header before deciding to make brownies at 9:30 p.m.

Thankfully, the baby isn’t up to be disappointed. He was my helper Sunday morning  and was so proud of his hard work. Had I listened to him while they were baking, I probably wouldn’t have burned these. He kept an eagle eye on  them baking and I thought I had set a timer.

I shampooed my carpets tonight and oh, it is bliss having clean, fluffy carpet. Mine is powder blue and this spring was harsh with a lot of rain and the boys trucking in and out of the house. I’m having a ladies party this weekend so I wanted them fresh! I think I’ll febreeze them as well…

I haven’t done much stitching other than the flower blanket. I did finish one beanie she’ll for some minion hats I’m making for a friend. Ooh, I also made a shirt for a friend for her first triathalon. It is her design but I love the glitter!

It’s says “I conquered CIPD. What’s Your Superpower?” It’s cute. She had CIPD as a teenager and was paralyzed most of her high school teen years. She’s an amazing individual  and I know she will do great for her first one!

Anyway, it’s nearing my sleepy time and my goal has been to get to bed by 11 p.m. And get 8 hours of sleep since we get up at 7 a.m. can’t say that I’ve been feeling refreshed and I’ve had a lot of sleep the last few days. I know I can’t really make up lost sleep but I can try!

I hope all had a good weekend and hope you have a good week!
